We get asked, “What impact does Kids International Ministries have on people?” By God’s grace, the scope of lives meaningfully, compellingly, and even permanently impacted by KIDS through education, community care and the gospel of Jesus Christ, is far reaching. Yet this impact extends beyond our core ministries to partner ministries that we help support.
One such ministry is in Tondo, Manila, where the poorest of the poor live. Life is not easy in Tondo, where people live in actual squalor, some on Trash Mountain (yes, it really is a mountain of trash), others in places with names like Happyland and Aroma. In their midst lives Ben Wong. Ben felt God’s call on his life and moved from Hong Kong to Tondo and bought a house in the project housing. Ben disciples 16 to 20 youth right now in Tondo and has eight young men who live with him full time. They do discipleship training and go and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. They are active in the community doing feedings and Bible studies. The eight young men also go to school and work. Kids International Ministries supports Ben and his work with the food for the feedings as well as other material support.
Where is the impact?
You may ask, “Where is the impact?” This month alone seven of the Tondo youth, based on their profession of faith in Jesus Christ, were baptized in the pool at the KIDS ministry center. Lives are being changed and Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” are being fulfilled.
